HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES- An eggcrate grill, ribbed rocker panel molding, chrome plated
exhaust bezels, spoke style wheel covers, vinyl covered headliner and the elimination of
roof vents serparated the '66 from the '65. Those equipped with the new, awesome 427 came
with a power bulge in the hood. Ten lacquer choices were offered for the exterior: Black,
white, Nassau Blue, Laguna Blue, Trophy Blue, red, green, maron, yellow and silver. The
big block was bumped up to 427 cubic inches this year rated at 390 and 425 horsepower.
Only 2% were sold this year with 3 speed manuals. 89.3% came with a 4-speed, 13.2% had a
tilt steering wheel and 20.2% came with power steering. An L72 eqipped Vette would reach
100 miles per hour in an amazing 12.9 seconds.
