HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES- For 1979 the base engine recieved the L82's air cleaner which
resulted in 10 more horsepower. All Corvettes now had the lightweight highback bucket
seats introduced in last years pace car edition. Only one new exterior color for this year
(dark green metallic). Seats were available in cloth or leather. The aircraft type console
held a 7000 rpm tachometer, voltmeter, oil pressure and temperature, and fuel gauges. An
AM/FM radio was now standard. Only 8447 Corvettes this year had a manual transmission.
